My World 12

Crossville, Tennessee, bills itself as the ‘Golf Capital of Tennessee’.  We live near Crossville in Fairfield Glade, which has five golf courses.  Although I haven’t played golf since I was in college, the last two homes I’ve owned have been on golf courses.  I’m sure there’s a message there someplace, but I’ll save that for another time.

Right now  the golf course in my world is Druid Hills.  It’s a favored walking path when golfers aren’t around.

The picture above was taken in the spring on the 11th fairway.  Since I was walking I could face the mountains in the distance.  If I were playing golf the mountains would be to my back.
myworld02
This was taken from the same fairway in early winter.  Note the church steeple poking up above the trees.

Unfortunately for Betsy, this picture, taken on the 12th tee, was shot in 2006.  Betsy is still waiting for snow this year.

The summer picture was taken from behind our house on a beautiful clear day.  This is the 18th fairway of the Druid Hills course.

This early morning picture was taken from the 18th green.  Our house (out of sight) is down the hill on the right.  I like the early morning fog in the valleys below the course.

I love living on a golf course, too. You’re guaranteed open space, and they are useful for so much when the golfers aren’t around. 🙂

Very interesting to see the different seasons. I love church steeples and mountain views and the fog is really pretty too.

    • seniorhiker's avatar seniorhiker Says:

Mildred, I tried very hard to find pictures from each of the seasons because the scenery is so beautiful year around. We’re very fortunate to live here.

  3. seniorhiker's avatar seniorhiker Says:

Wren, the open space was one of the things we liked about this house.
Mildred, we love the mountains around us — they are beautiful in any season.

I have a big golf outing coming up in two weeks: it’s the only time I golf all year, other than putt putt.

I think it’s a joy to live by the golf course, just imagine all the lush greens you are surrounded with.

    Happy 2009.

Looks like a beautiful place to walk! Lot more fun looking at the scenery then at a golf ball 🙂 I like the steeple sticking up in the photo….really stands out!

Beautiful place and I agree..it needs snow and I will send some directly

Looks like a beautiful place to live George. Do you think some snow may be on the way?

  9. Ms Hays's avatar Ms Hays Says:

Nice shots George – I really like the snow scene – the only thing missing is me standing there in it waving “hi” to the camera!

I’m still waiting for snow too!!! They’re calling for ice again tonight & tomorrow with a chance of snow flurries – hogwash – there won’t be no such thing!

The birds are usually so plentiful around golf courses. Now we know where all the birds come from. You have some nice views.

    • seniorhiker's avatar seniorhiker Says:

Leedra, we really do like to views around this course. There is a rough (trees) directly behind the house, so I guess we get the benefit of that when it comes to our bird population.

    Nice series of photos.
I was going for my walk on a golf course once and got hit with a ball on my shoulder.

    • seniorhiker's avatar seniorhiker Says:

Happyone, if I can’t walk toward the golfers I’ll hide behind a tree. It can be dangerous out there!

Very nice photos displaying the area you live in. We are waiting for snow here in Ohio as well. We’ve had a little bit here and there, but nothing that has stuck around. Now it’s just gray and gloomy.

Those pics are so beautiful. How lucky you are to live in such a pretty area. Living here in the “flatlands” makes me appreciate rolling hills and mountains. Enjoyed the blue skies and sunshine too. I haven’t seen much of that in several days now.

George: I would like to be on those courses and hit a few ball. As few as possible. LOL Beautiful country you have in Tennessee.

    • seniorhiker's avatar seniorhiker Says:

FG, you’re more than welcome to hit a few down here. Some golfers get a great roll when the fairway slopes downhill!

  15. Carla's avatar Carla Says:

I could care less about golf, but the courses are so pretty and you get some beautiful views from your house. Love your photos!

  16. Shelley's avatar Shelley Says:

That looks like a beautiful course to live on!! Especially w/ the view of the mountains.

  17. Dorothy's avatar Dorothy Says:

    Very beautiful and interesting!!!

Nice shots! I can easily see why you would live on or near a golf course even if you don’t play. Golf courses are usually so lush and beautiful. I’d rather have that view than the windows of a neighbor’s house.
    😀

I have this crazy desire to type FOUR!!!
Now that that’s out of my system … I enjoyed seeing your part of the world and once I decide on what camera I’m going to purchase, I’ll be sharing more photos of my OWN part of the world. Right now I’m leaning strongly toward the Nikon D60 … and may take the leap today! Thanks for dropping by Small Reflections earlier.
    Hugs and blessings,
