Gatlinburg Skybridge

(Note:  All pictures may be enlarged by clicking on them once or twice.)

This past September Betsy and I, along with Betsy’s son Mark and his girlfriend Robin, visited the Gatlinburg Skybridge for he first time. The Skybridge, which opened earlier in the year, is the longest (680 feet) pedestrian suspension bridge in North America.

The Skybridge is located at the top of the Skylift in Gatlinburg. Robin and Mark rode up the mountain in the chair in front of us.

The Skybridge is even more impressive when viewed from the top of the mountain.

There were quite a few people on the Skybridge, but we were still able to enjoy the views of the Smokies above Gatlinburg.

We never get tired of seeing the Smoky Mountains.

Wow. What a way to view the mountain area. I think I’d have to skip the ride though….I lost my stomach just looking at the pics.

These views are just brilliant! But I’m afraid I would miss them, because I would be too busy throwing up! Good thing you and Betsy are more adventurous then me! I enjoy looking from afar at the brave feats of others.

The views are amazing, but, I’m not so sure I would want to walk across that.

From the mountain-top SkyDeck, the SkyBridge quite literally crosses the sky as it stretches 680 feet across a deep valley in a single span. Guests can walk across at their own pace, taking in the panoramic views and enjoying the spectacular setting before walking back when they’re ready. With a height of 140 feet at its midpoint, the SkyBridge is an incredible but easily attainable experience you’ll remember for a lifetime – especially as you cross the glass-floor panels in the middle of the span.
