Betsy and I just got back this evening from our Valentine’s Day trip. For the second year in a row we have gone waterfalling. This year we managed to see six new waterfalls. Saturday started out rainy in southern Tennessee, but it cleared up enough to make hiking very enjoyable. We had one moderate-length hike and several short hikes in our search for these six waterfalls.
The waterfall in the picture above is the 300th waterfall in our ‘collection’. It is Pond Falls, one of two that can be seen from the Ledford Mill near Tullahoma, Tennessee. This falls is formed by overflow from the retention pond that supplied power for the mill. The Ledford Mill is a gristmill built in 1884 and is listed on the National Historic Register and on the Tennessee Heritage Trail. Restored in 1996, the mill is now both a museum and a bed and breakfast.
Betsy and I were delighted to add this pretty little waterfall to our collection. We are also looking forward to adding more waterfalls to our collection in the weeks and months ahead.

What a wonderful way to spend time together…waterfalling. This one is a beauty. It looks as if you could climb up those steps. We don’t have too many active waterfalls here in California…it’s too dry. Enjoy SS.

300 waterfalls!? You have travelled a lot! There is something about waterfalls, the sound, the light, the water pouring down – exciting and relaxing at the same time! Great shot – the stairs looks almost made!

Very nice photo from Pond falls. Interesting place to make a visit. In my life, I have seen only few water falls. In my mind there is Niagara Falls seen from Canada’s side. That remains in our mind all of our life.

I sure hope you folks have visited the many beautiful waterfalls in the mountains of North Carolina! This is a fabulous idea. I have a “collection”, if you will, of light houses.

Lovely waterfall! I like your idea of going waterfalling for a day trip! When things thaw out around here, I might just do that, thanks for the suggestion.

This is simply magnificent!! It’s breathtaking and peaceful all at the same time. Yet I feel excited when looking at it. My hubby retires in 2 years and we hope to travel all over and take pictures also.
Congratulations on the 300 milestone. I will be looking forward to the next 300.
