Wednesday was an absolutely beautiful day up here on the Plateau — the sky was blue and the sun was shining. It was almost too warm in the afternoon to work in the yard, but that didn’t stop me. I thoroughly enjoy working in the yard even if that includes mowing, which I finished up early in the afternoon.
The most enjoyable chore I had to do was plant our last new rose. I had to replace one that we lost during the winter. So now our rose garden is complete — we have 48 rose bushes. That’s about all that we can handle without getting a larger yard!
The picture above is another of new roses this year — New Day. It is slightly fragrant as well as being very pretty. I have more trouble with yellow roses than any other color — they seem to be a favorite of just about every bug that likes to chew of rose bushes! However, we’re hoping that I can keep this one healthy.

I do hope you did not plant your new rose in the same place as the one that died without completely exchanging all of the soil near where the old roots were. A dieing rose exudes something that is detrimental to the thrivins of a plant of the same kind.

Such gorgeous roses – and they all have names. However do you remember 48 different rose names??? Do you keep the name label at each bush? Just curious over here. Have a lovely week-end.

This is a very pretty one. Great name…it looks like a sunrise. I never can decide if I like yellow or pink ones best. I wonder why red is the most popular for giving?

Your Wednesday sounds like my day in RI today 86 degree at 6:30pm It has been so welcomed bring a smile to many faces that endured our severe winter. i just love all your roses you post. Each one has such magnificent beauty I love yellow ones for giving to friends.

Well I am jealous. We cant have roses around my house its too shaded. Yellow and peach color roses are my favorites.
