This is my post for the My World meme.  It is hosted by Klaus, Ivar, Sandy, Wren, Louise and Fishing Guy.  To learn more about our world or to join and share your part of the world, click HERE.

My world is getting prepared for autumn — at least the trees in the yard are.  I’m not sure I’m ready for autumn to come.  I have too many things on my summer to-do list that still haven’t gotten done!

The dogwood tree in the front yard is now sporting bunches of red berries.  While most of the leaves still have quite a bit of green in them, the picture below shows that some, at least, have become quite red.

But there is a good aspect of autumn getting closer.  Our reblooming iris have started to bloom again.  The picture below is of Autumn Bugler, which so far is the only one to bloom a second time this year.

I think it may have jumped the gun a bit, but it is still nice to see.

It is coming George. Some more color for your yard…always welcome right?

  2. Rose Says:

I had forgotten about the reblooming irises….was wondering a while back when they would bloom. I need to find some for here.

  3. Susie Says:

We have that wonderful fall feeling this a.m. I think it’s about 59 degrees. I haven’t seen any dogwoods turning yet. Pretty iris.

  4. Happyone Says:

The iris is beautiful. No way am I ready for the summer to end yet!

  5. Fishing Guy Says:

George: You have proceeded to a Fall look very quickly. I can see it in my tomatoe plants as they slow down.

  6. NCMountainwoman Says:

I’m with you, George. I’m not ready for summer to be done with. Of course, there’s not a thing either of us can do about it!

  7. Tricia Says:

Autumn is further along there than here. Trees aren’t turning here, yet

    Lovely photos!
Don’t worry, we still have 20+ days left! maybe we will be lucky and get an Indian summer.

Love the colors of autumn. Beautiful shot.

  11. Louise Cannon Says:

I had no idea there were iris that would bloom twice in a year. It’s stunning. And I LOVE the dogwood leaves. I’m not ready for summer to be over, either, but at least autumn is so beautiful so it’s sort of worth the change.

My irises bloomed EARLIER than usual this year and I don’t expect I’ll see them again until NEXT Spring, but it’s delightful to see yours. It seems Fall is coming to So Cal too because the leaves on the tree in my neighbor’s front yard are ‘turning’ already. I’ve shared a bit of my world this morning at HRG … a mixed bag.
    Hugs and blessings,

You will soon be longing to be back out in the yard and
    wishing it were spring again.
Oh yeah, I am hoping winter
comes and goes in a blink of an eye. 😉

Fall is still a bit around the corner here, great photos!

  15. Helene Glehen Says:

I did not know that iris can bloom a second time in a year. It ‘s strange and interesting. Lucky man !
