Betsy, in her blog yesterday, told about our day on September 11, 2001. The beauty of St. Maarten in the Caribbean was a surreal contrast to the events taking place in the United States.
The picture above was taken as our ship was leaving Philipsburg, our port of call in St. Maarten. In spite of all the tragedy of the day, This scene gave us a sense of calm and peace.

For me, sometimes when there are troubles, I look at a scene like this and it just tells me God is still in control.

I remember some details of that day so well. The call from my son, the prayerful walk with my friend, so much TV, staying in touch. The unreal images on TV.
Yet there is always peace and beauty somewhere while disaster strikes a far off land. Life is often such a strong dichotomy. Lovely photo.

Another gorgeous shot! It does look very peaceful and lovely. I’ve always wanted to travel to the Caribbean – I’m going to have to show this photo to my hubby and try one more time to get him interested in that cruise!
