I finally finished stacking the wood that came while Betsy was in Maggie Valley. The picture above shows our wood pile. The wood on the right is what I’ve stacked this year. We’ll burn that wood next year. The pile on the left has been aging for a year and that is what we will burn this winter. If you look at the foreground of the picture you will see lots of leaves. Guess what we’ll be doing this week?
Now that we’re back on standard time it gets dark early. Monday we were coming home from Cookeville and had to stop at a grocery store to pick up a few things. When we came out of the store we saw this full moon in the eastern sky.
As we headed home we came up over a hill and had this view of the western sky. What a great way to end the day!

I can just smell that firewood burning while sipping some hot chocolate! The fall/winter skies have so much more interest to me…

I love to smell wood burning. It conjures up so many memories for me. Have fun raking leaves. When you finish I know another yard that could use that!

That’s a lot of wood!
You know I hope you enjoy your fires this winter, but,
I’d rather be back to warmer temps already. ;0

Wow! Spectacular moon and sunset photos!
My guess is you’re going to be raking leaves this week.

Seeing that woodpile makes me remember the smell of wood burning in a fireplace…good memories…

Wow! You’ve done quite a bit of work. Guess it’s true that firewood warms you twice.

yup its that time of yr. my son has been cutting wood to sell. we have pellet stove love the last 2 photos

i run the mower over the leaves a few times (well, husband does it now, but i did it while i was a singla mother – it was hard enough getting the kids to mow the grass!!) and leave the raking till spring. some of the nutrients go back to the soil, and i need fewer bags!!
the wind takes care of the front yard, though.

George George that sunset is off the charts! I think we are all on the way to your house to see tonight’s OK!

My stepdad would approve of your wood stacking. He sells wood part time. The lot he works from is neat and tidy.
Lovely shots of the moon and sunset. I think the red must have been glowing on the moon.
I was out last night practicing taking some shots of the moon. I don’t quite have it yet although some weren’t too bad.

I can almost smell the wood burning; it’s rare scent here. When I DO smell that, I am instantly transported to carefree times.
Gorgeous sunset!

Looks like you have enough wood to last through the winter.
I don’t much like it getting dark so early but it is nice not walking in the dark in the morning, at least for a little while yet.

George: Beautiful captures, Betsy stole a couple of these shots. She forgot all your work.

Well good for you, George. You got the wood all neatly stacked. Great shot of the full moon and sunset.

A nice looking woodpile. Who has the honor of lugging in the wood? We used to burn wood, there is nothing as nice as a wood fire burning. Great shot of the moon and the sunset. Certainly a nice end to the day.

I love that moon and that sky!
You know heating with wood warms you twice: once when you cut it and stack it and the other when you burn it.

I love your moon! And I love having a wood fire during our long chilly winters. Thank you so much for your visits, I do so appreciate them and your comments.
Have a lovely weekend!
