We had blue skies and sunshine on Thursday — we hardly knew what to do. Even more amazing was the fact that the temperature got above freezing for the first time in about 10 days.
The result of all that warmth and sunshine was this giant icicle engulfing a wind chime on the south-east corner of our house. I don’t know which impressed more — the blue sky or the icicle. By the end of the day the snow on the roof of our neighbor’s house was gone, but much of the icicle was still there.

That is one big icicle! It looks so pretty against the blue sky. Our temperature made it to 40! If this keeps up all this snow will be gone soon!!!

George: Beautiful capture, the melting does make some interesting ice formations.

Love the blue sky! Neat pic of the icicle on the chime. Never have seen one like that before.

the blue sky is very beautiful but the ice looks very thick.
I hope the ice melts gradually so you won’t have a great swoosh of water—like before. MB

Well George, I know for whom the chimes do not toll… they do not toll for thee and your beloved Betsy.
But I am glad you enjoyed some much needed sunshine in your lovely Tennessee skies.
Be well, be Happy and enjoy your weekend. I hope it will be sunny and bright.

What a shot! If the icycles were separated, they would still tinkle!

Well, as you know, I love icicle pics, so this is great. For some reason, i think It’s funny, But what a great photo it makes. The sky is for sure extremly bright behind it. I don’t know which I like better, either. Perhaps the chimes.

So nice to see blue skies in the same photo with icicles. Have a great weekend.

I’d say it is a pretty impressive icicle 🙂 I’m glad you got a bit of blue sky…we did too and the temps were a bit higher. Our predicted snow this weekend, is now going to be rain…yeah! Although sun would be even nicer.
