If you’ve been visiting this blog for any length of time, you’ve heard about the wall and new flower bed that we built along the road in front of the house. Building the wall and filling in the bed took several weeks, and during the winter after a severe thunderstorm, part of it had to be rebuilt.
But this time of the year all the aggravations were worth it, as you can see from the picture above. Most of the iris planted in the bed bloomed and hopefully they will do so again in the autumn. We are now enjoying the lilies and roses and the daylilies (which are hard to spot in this picture) are starting to bloom.
Betsy and I definitely think the work was worth it. We are definitely enjoying the new view in front of our house. And we’ve noticed an added bonus to having that new flower bed out there. Most of the cars going up or down the road in front of the house are going a little slower this year!

I’m happy to report that Betsy is continue to mend. She can now stand with out pain, although that knee still complains if she walks too much at one time. But she is making progress and is able to sleep at night without pain.

How lovely, and what a neat bonus! Upon clicking, I see the paler flowers look like lilies, but the stems are looking so different from the ones around here. yours are very tall and spiky. But I know there’s thousands of different daylilies!

Your bed is very colorful. I can see why traffic would be slowing down a bit. Glad to know Betsy is mending wonderfully. Eventually she’ll be out searching for waterfalls again.

It looks great! I wish I could hire you to build me some flower beds. My knee doesn’t like gardening as much as it used to. I’ve got a few lilies coming on. I’m glad that Betsy is doing better. I got my “happy shots” in my knees yesterday, so I’m feeling more agile today! Cortisone is wonderful stuff.

It’s nice to know that Betsy is doing great. I am happy for her and I am hoping for the complete healing of her knee.
That flower bed is great. i wish those varieties of roses could also be planted here, but I don’t think that would be a good idea because the weather is not suitable for imported roses. Too sad ;(

I remember all the hard work you put into building the wall and then when part of it got washed away. My back hurt for you, George!
It is a wonderful flower bed and beautiful to look at for you, us and your passing neighbors.
I always enjoy my visit to Mr Mc`Georges Garden…and I promise not to eat any of your splendid flowers 😉

Lovely! And worth your hard work. What kind of red roses are those? Sorry to hear that Betsy is/was having knee pain. The Hyalgan shots I had have made quite a difference.
