Most of you know that Betsy and I love roses and have quite a few in our yard. Roses are definitely our favorite flowers, but lilies are a close second. We have lilies in three beds; the picture above is of part of the bed along the side of our deck. When the doors leading to the deck are open, the fragrance is heavenly.

George: They are certainly a beautiful flower, you do little work as they toil to produce.

Those are the flowers of labor, beautiful.

You do have a nice collection there George. They really do smell wonderful.

I agree with you and Betsy — the lilies are a close second. And while I love day lilies — the fact that they bloom only for a day is just depressing. The Asiatics, however, are another story!

When I enlarged your picture, I could see just how beautiful all the lilies are George. I can close my eyes and almost smell the sweet fragrance. Your post title reminds me of that beautiful hymn. Thank you for such a lovely post this afternoon. Is the intense heat doing any damage to your roses/lilies?

Lilies are so regal and yours pictured here look very much the part.

Your favorites are two of mine also – but, I cannot grow either at high altitude, so I’ll enjoy your photo.
