Sunday Betsy and I went to Fall Creek Falls State Park to have lunch with two of Betsy’s cousins who are here visiting friends. We had a wonderful (and delicious) meal at the lodge and enjoyed lots of laughs and conversation.
Of course, Betsy and I couldn’t go to Fall Creek Falls without checking in to see the waterfalls. We were shocked to see how little water there was. There was no discernible water going over Cane Creek Falls, and the creek bed below the falls was essentially dry, as you can see from the picture above (those are shadows of trees across the creek bed).
Cane Creek Cascade, which is further upstream, brought even a greater shock. This is all the water I could see flowing over the ledge. The picture below shows Cane Creek Cascade as it looked when we were there in April.
We could really use some rain here on the Plateau. If you have any rain to spare, please send it our way.

Betsy and I are taking a blog break for a few days. I’ll visit when I can, but probably won’t post for several days.

Goodness, i’m really glad that you showed us the older picture for comparison, I can understand the severity of the draught now!

We have the same thing here with Yosemite – the best time to see the falls is during late spring when the snow melts, but that only depends on how much snowfall the Sierra Nevada gets in the winter time.
We had some sprinkling this Sunday, which of course did not last all day. So by 3 pm there was Mr. Sun and gone was the wonderful rainy day.
We could use a lot of rain here too. Hope you get enough rainfall this year.

that is scary to me, George, that the water falls are trickles. we are in drought here and have been for 4 year, we are so dry now, our yard is black sand, it is frighting that our water supplies are getting low and everyone keeps wasting what we have. water is live giving and we have to have it to live.

That really does look dry. Hope you get some rain soon. I’d love to send you some, but we haven’t had any actual rain lately – just clouds and gray skies. I’m hoping for sunshine here!

We’re lamenting the same thing here, so we’ve none to spare. Breaks my heart to see so many visible rocks that should be under water.

Amazing to see the difference between the two visits! It seems so many are suffering from dry weather.

It’s almost unbelievable that those are pictures of the same falls. That is sad. Lord, please send the rains again!

WHOA! What a remarkable difference! I’m sending rain your way today…at least as best I can.

Gosh, that’s pretty bad. Wish I could send you some of our rainfall. We’ve just had a strong typhoon over the weekend and the damage to our northern provinces was bad. And another is on the way this weekend!

Maybe our rain/snow will make it across the middle and land near you soon. Or the hurricane will send showers up your way.

I know what you mean. It is so dry here, I’m beginning to despair that it will ever rain again! I always thought I lived in a place with plenty of water…but not lately. Everytime the paper says “chance of rain” I get my hopes up, but it never happens. I hope we both get some rain soon.

I also saw this in Norway, where we uasually saw impressive waterfalls, but some years ago the same waterfalls were nothing more than a poor dripping leak.

I can see that the water level is down. The world is changing…

George: I really enjoy to see your love of waterfalls. The photos are really neat.

Beautiful water falls. The contrast in the water falls between two times is beautifully brought out.

Beautiful waterfalls. Too bad the rains haven’t come to maintain them.
