It’s that time of the year. Last week we were warned about low temperatures and freezing over the weekend. We still had roses blooming and we wanted to keep as many of the blossoms as we could. So Betsy gathered all the vases she could, and I gathered all the blossoms and buds about to open that I could find.
I brought in 40 buds and blossoms, which we put in the vases as you can see above. Betsy put the vases in various places around the house and not only did they look good, several were also fragrant.
We had three nights of temperatures in the 20s, but no frost. All the rose bushes seem to be doing fine. And the temperatures are supposed to stay above freezing for the rest of the week. I may be able to bring in some more ‘last roses’ by the weekend.

How fantastic to be able to have those colorful, fragrant roses all around your house! Have to admit that I’m a bit envious! What a wonderful sight to greet you each morning! Hope you’re able to save some more before the it freezes!! Have a wonderful day, George!

The roses look beautiful in the house. I bet you will have some more roses outside. There are always those stragglers.
Yes we have some native hummingbirds that stick around all year. Tiny but tough. MB

When I had roses I did the same thing. And I loved the house filled with them. I’ll bet you haven’t seen the last rose yet.

Your roses are beautiful George! My Daddy LOVED roses and had many kinds as it looks like you do! We lost him last Dec. to cancer. Anytime I see a rose I think of him! So thankyou for sharing them today 🙂
