Watery Wednesday #132: Cane Creek Falls

Cane Creek Falls, Dahlonega, Georgia. March 9, 2011.

This is my post for Watery Wednesday.  To see more of our beautiful watery world, or to join and post your own pictures to share, click HERE.

Cane Creek Falls is a waterfall near Dahlonega, Georgia, which Betsy and I visited while we were in north Georgia during my birthday trip.  I’ve mentioned that we had quite a bit of rain during that trip, and you can see the muddy water thundering over the falls in the picture above.

Cane Creek Falls, Dahlonega, Georgia. May 25, 2005.

This trip wasn’t the first time we’ve visited Cane Creek Falls.  We were also there in May, 2005.  At that time the water levels were more normal.  It almost looks like a different waterfall.

Wow, what a contrast! I’ve always found waterfalls a little frightening, and that first shot sort of takes my breath away. They’re both wonderful photos, though.

I like the 2005, it’s beautiful!! Is this cane like in sugar, or like in walking stick?

I can almost hear those waters roar!

    THE SEEKERS OF WATER

The seekers of water, they say,
Like moisture in every which way—
    As ice or as snow
    And dewdrops that glow
When sunshine peeks out for some play.

I thoroughly enjoyed both of these photos, though the first one is truly spectacular! How wonderful that you had the earlier shot to contrast it with. Mother Nature’s changing face never fails to fascinate …:)

Wow! That is amazing how different it looks! The 2011 shot makes me think of Willy Wonka and how that would be a chocolate waterfall LOL

    Beautiful shot as always George!

Same place and so different photos. This is just about what I love-comparison. Both photos are gorgeous in their own way. They relieve to us that our surrounding can be so different looking depending when we see it. Thank You presenting both photos.

That really is a difference. I like the second shot better…it’s just more tranquil and the color of the water is cleaner looking. Thanks for sharing these and thanks for stopping by!
