SkyWatch Friday: Evening Clouds

The evening eastern sky near El Reno, Oklahoma. June 11, 2011.

This is my post for Skywatch Friday, a meme for sharing views of the sky from all over the world.  To see more, or to join and share your own photos of the sky, click HERE.

As the sun was setting ahead of us as we drove through the Oklahoma countryside, I noticed clouds forming in the eastern sky.  Although the base of the clouds were in darkness, the sky above was still blue, and the tops of the clouds were lit up by the light of the setting sun.

That is a gorgeous picture. That would look really good if it covered my whole screen. 🙂

Of course I enlarged this one, you know how I love sunsets, even cloudy ones!! Funny, I was just now commenting on Betsy’s blog that the best sunsets have clouds, just the bare sun doesn’t make for such a pretty picture, which I may make up into a blog post. But i had to enlarge this one to get a better look, and I can see that bit of rose at the bottom where the sun is, it seems to make the fluffy clouds above luminescent!

Thats a very dramatic sky. My parents were both raised in Oklahoma…Came to CA when my mom was 6 mo. pregnant with me…so I California born and never lived out of the state.

I’ve been scrolling down this blog too trying to catch up on some of your vacation posts. Beautiful places! I do have a little envy but I’m happy it was such a great trip for you and Betsy.
I’ve had my Granddaughters for three weeks now and one week to go. Not much blogging going on. 🙂

Awesome sky!! Those clouds are simply beautiful. Great job on the picture, George.

I have stayed in El Reno many a time when traveling to Iowa. One time there was a tornado close by!

Got an inch and a half of rain in my part of Texas, so it looks much greener than it had been.

    Have a great weekend.
    Blessings!
