I’ve done two posts about the football game Betsy and I attended in early October. The first post was about the pre-game festivities, the second was about the game itself. This post is about the half-time show. It’s really appropriate that I’m sharing the half-time show after every thing else, because we had to wait until after the game to see the show. The visiting band’s program lasted too long for Bearden’s program to be completed during half-time, so it was postponed until after the game.
Betsy’s grandson, Landon, is the drummer in the middle of the picture above.
The band’s program was based on Clockworks. I must admit that I’m not familiar with that work, but I enjoyed the band’s playing and marching.
Of course we tried to keep an eye on Landon during all the evolutions.
The flag bearers put on quite a display as well.
During the show one of the majorettes did her thing with three flaming batons.
I was frankly amazed that she didn’t get burned.

Those kids are certainly talented and you and Betsy must be proud of Landon.

Good heavens – what a display!
What is shown of that girl – “The Stripper” from my
Minnesota introduction but bloody close. Even just looking at these photos brings back that experience – something those days unheard of here in Australia – now the same as the USA with the cheer squads of very talented and attractive young girls.
I wonder, no best not. But what part of the game holds the
highest interest – the displays of music, bands and gymnastics or the football.
Very impressive indeed.
2011 – again no luck with the Melbourne Cup – vive La France again – the Tricolour flies high over Flemington Race Course.
Cheers
Colin

When the band has to do their routine after the game, we call it the “fifth quarter.” I do love watching high school football.

It’s easy to forget just how much energy kids this age have!! Terrific captures, George, and I know you and Betsy are rightly so proud of Landon! I found myself aching as I looked at the last shot!! Such a fun, great look at your world!!

I just love the bands! They are so much fun to watch and listen to! If you ever get a chance to go to one of their competitions, I would highly recommend it! It’s amazing! Jenna has a friend who was in the high school band who has now gone on to play in the COLLEGE band! Can you even imagine?? How fun would that be to play in a stadium of Thousands????

Oh gosh, how does the majorette DO that? It looks like she has more then two batons, as well! Great pics of that! I have never heard of Clockworks. Only the movie and book “A Clockwork Orange”. Thinking about and praying for Betsy today.

Wonder how many times she’s burned herself, in the past??? Thank goodness Landon doesn’t have to deal with fire! Hope Betsy feels better soon.

Half-time shows can be pretty amazing, as this one so effectively demonstrates!

The visiting band played too long – not too considerate were they.
I am glad the home band got to play afterwards. Looks like a talented and dedicated group of young people.
Nice shots George!
