I was beginning to think that Spring would never make it up on the Cumberland Plateau here in Tennessee. It seemed that every time we had a nice day in March, we would have freezing rain or snow tow days later.
But in spite of the reluctance of Old Man Winter to leave, we finally had some crocus pop up in the yard. The critters seem to think that crocus bulbs make a delicious treat, so we had mostly single flowers or small clumps of blossoms.
But be that as it may, at least they brought some color to the yard and a promise of more blossoms to come.

I love this little tiny flower —the first of Spring. Glad Spring has finally gotten here –although it’s supposed to get cold again tomorrow… Gads.
Love you,

I have never seen a crocus growing and these are beautiful… and they come up all by themselves each year.

Nice rewards for such an awful winter! And, I saw on Betsy’s post, just how much more blooming you’ve had. Looking gorgeous! I know how much hard work you put in.

Adorably beautiful!!! George, look at your second picture. The light, it makes them look like they have deep purple all around the edges! A wonderful illusion, looks like a new hybrid.

Your Tennessee crocus looks identical to my Vancouver ones. How can that be? 🙂 What lovely photos. I’ve been thinking of all of you in the midst of such drastic weather changes. Wishing you the most beautiful Spring. You surely have earned it.
