We really didn’t have chestnuts roasting on this fire, but we did still have a wood-burning fireplace when this picture was taken. (We switched to propane when the Old Man got too old to keep cutting and splitting the firewood).
But even if these weren’t any chestnuts, I like the peaceful setting of this scene in our home on a cold December night.

That’s a wonderful glow of lights and fire warming up the spirit of Christmas and winter cold. Loved the decorations 🙂 Hope you and Betsy are staying safe.
Take care

I loved that wood-burning fireplace —but don’t talk about my husband like he is OLD….. The man I am in love with may be 78 –but he’s anything but OLD….
I will admit that turning the switch on when we want a fire in the fireplace is much easier and more convenient than purchasing the wood, stacking the wood, chopping the wood, carrying some to the garage to dry before using, etc. etc. etc.
Love,
Wifey

It sure does look cosy and what a good idea to switch to gas. Cleaner and easier. I love roasted chestnuts but we rarely see them here.
