This is my post for Watery Wednesday, a weekly meme created and hosted by 2sweeetnsaxy of Eyes, Mind, Heart. To see more of our beautiful watery world, or to join and post your own pictures to share, click HERE.
The picture above was taken on the Intracoastal Waterway in Little River, South Carolina. I lived in Little River for four years and enjoyed my time in the area.
Little River is a fishing village north of Myrtle Beach. As you can see from the background in the picture, the city in encroaching on the village. Those homes weren’t there when I moved to Little River, but were built before I left.
The waterway is a little busier now as well. When I lived there most of the boat traffic was fishing vessels or pleasure craft. Now two casino boats are homeported in Little River. They use Little River Inlet to access the ocean for gambling cruises.
Betsy and I visit Little River about once each year, but we go for the seafood, not the gambling.

I bet that area is a big tourist attraction during the summer months. I would enjoy just setting out in a boat fishing.

This is definitely a LOVELY watery view … especially when embiggened. Your ROSES are beautiful too! You have a much larger yard than I do with many more varieties ;–)

I’m always of two minds when I read about the growth of tourism and industry in peaceful little places like this. On the one hand, it’s good for the town’s economy. On the other hand, it usually messes up the place eventually unless the council and the residents are determined not to let it.
Anyway, it’s a lovely place!
