I hope the year 2010 has gotten off to a great start for each and every one of you. By the way, how do you say 2010? Is it “Two Thousand Ten” or “Twenty Ten”? I hear it both ways around here.
Now that the holidays are over we can get back to normal here on the Plateau. Of course winter means that there is not a great deal to do outdoors except to split and bring in firewood. Perhaps winter days will mean that I’ll have more time to get caught up on all the indoor projects I have on my list.
One thing I would like to happen is for us to get out of the deep freeze. Temperatures in the single digits are not to our liking! Fortunately the single digits have been overnight, but we haven’t been above freezing ALL YEAR!
The picture above shows the icy cascade behind our house on the edge of the golf course fairway. We’ve seen ice there a few times before, but I don’t think it has ever been this thick.
The saddest thing (at least as far as Betsy is concerned) is that we have all this cold weather with almost no snow. We woke up Saturday to a very light dusting of snow, but that’s all we’ve seen so far.

George: Mighty fine capture. I say twenty ten, I said nineteen ninety nine so I see no reason to change. Twenty nine would not have made sense.

I like twenty ten the best…it just sounds cool. 🙂
I hope you get out of the freeze…or at least get some snow. Betsy must be going bonkers!!!

I say twenty ten.
I can’t complain about cold weather after just spending almost 2 weeks in tropical weather. 🙂

Cold here as well and we still have plenty of snow lying around from our 12 inches a week ago. It was a balmy 9 degrees when I took the dogs out this morning.

We actually had a little light snow this a.m. But it wasn’t much and it’s gone. Cold here too tho. I ain’t a big fan of it.

It snowed a little bit this morning here, it snowed all day but did not stick. It is supposed to snow a lot Thursday, calling for almost 3 inches.
I live in Knoxville, not real far from you.
I say twenty 10. When I write he date, I will just put -10.

Oh my … that’s AMAZING! No snow (or ice) likely to be seen anywhere near here … ever! I did share some warmer coastal photos for your viewing pleasure 😉
Hugs and blessings,

I’m with the team of twenty ten, only because I think it’s shorter to say.
That’s cold where you are. Stay warm. Happy New Year to you both.

Great photo of the frozen cascade!
We haven’t been above 20 F all year, so far. And we probably won’t be above freezing until early February.
We do have snow, though – about 8 inches of it. Hope you get enough to make Betsy smile.
Happy 2010 (twenty-ten is my preference, just because it’s quicker to say) to you and Betsy!

Snow is in the forecast later in the week here! I hope I can get out and enjoy taking some pics.
We have a high of 11º here tonight…and believe me that is high. It is overcast so that is probably why it isn’t down to the single digits…earlier this week even up late in the morn they were running 5º!
Hope you get a break from the cold snap! That ice really tells us how cold it is!

I actually hadn’t thought about saying it at all yet. I probably would have said “two thousand 10”, but will end up saying whatever I hear other people say. It was 17 here today, but I hope going up tomorrow! We both live too far south to expect this cold to be normal…thankfully!
