We don’t often get icicles at our house, but this winter has been unusual and it is still quite young!
Sunday we had blue skies for the first time in a week. It was still quite cold, but I got outside and noticed the wind chime at the corner of our house. Over the past couple of weeks the icicle has grown and it now prevents the chime from chiming.
We put the wind chimes up to discourage the Pileated Woodpeckers from dining on our house. I don’t know why or how the wind chimes work, but we haven’t had problems with the woodpeckers since we put them up. Although the Pileated Woodpeckers have been coming to the suet feeders during this cold spell, I hope the temperatures soon warm up enough to enable the chimes to chime again.

I love the icicles on the chimes… I wonder if clinking ice can be counted as music too?

Great shot! It does look cold! Hope the wind chimes survive! They’re lovely! Have a good week and stay warm!

Great capture. We haven’t had too many kinds of birds coming to my feeder so when you mention something as “exotic” as a woodpecker I got really green with envy.
You and Betsy stay warm okay. Have a good week.

George: Ringing in winter with iced chimes. What a fun photo.

Hi George, I am so glad I once again have time to visit my friends blogs, this is so very unusual! We have wind chimes at our home (they are my husbands in fact) but we never get cold enough to have icicles that is so cool!

Beautiful shot. I know in some part of the world they believe that wind chimes are lucky. May be you just got lucky with wood peckers.

That is cold!
Thanks for the wind chime idea. We have to shoo those woodpeckers off our chimney during the summer. Wind chimes it is.

Unusual but also quite pretty. But I hope it warms up soon for you too!

I need to get some wind chimes to see what Lorelei thinks of them!
We had blue skies yesterday but was back cloudy today…but at least it was above freezing.
