This is my post for Watery Wednesday. To see more of our beautiful watery world, or to join and post your own pictures to share, click HERE.
Obviously the picture above was not taken this week. It was taken in May at Nantahala Falls at the Nantahala Outdoor Center in North Carolina. Nantahala Falls is perhaps the most popular “waterfall” in the state, especially in summers. It’s the last and biggest rapid encountered by whitewater enthusiasts on the wildly popular Nantahala River. It’s not a waterfall — just a Class III rapid — but it has always been called Nantahala Falls.

I’m grateful for memories of warm summer days and beautiful white water.

I sure don’t envy him. Not a place I would like to be.
It’s a great capture though!

It might be a class 3 rapid but it looks like a waterfall and you won’t find me drowning there. MB

Great shot, but I’m not getting too close, thank you very much! —- Sure hope the freeze lets up in your area so the chimes can chime again! We had +6 yesterday – unreal for January! The city side-streets are a yucky mess – and my washed car needs another wash!
Enjoy your day!

Did you get out there? It always looks very exhilarating, but I’ve never done it and probably never will 🙂

Mary,
Nope, I just took pictures. That was exhilarating enough for me.

You know I live in a state known for its class rapids and I’ve never participated. Could be that fear of water and not being able to swim. 🙂
Wonderful action shot George.

My wife and daughter did that out in Montana and loved it. Me ….. I don’t like the water so I did like you and took pictures.

It’s nice to see people doing that but not knowing how to swim kinda ruled out this activity for me. Also, I’m really scared 🙂

it must be amazing to paddle in waters like that! Great capture.

I’ve been canoeing down Current River here in So Mo (& that’s swift enough for me), but I’d NEVER go kayaking or step foot in a river THAT swift – I’m scared of water!

Great shot! That looks like fun. 🙂

I agree with you…just taking the picture of that wild water is exciting enough! I prefer calmer water if I’m going to get in any sort of watercraft. Thanks for stopping by at my WW.
