This is my post for Skywatch Friday, a meme for sharing views of the sky from all over the world. To see more, or to join and share your own photos of the sky, click HERE.
The skies in this picture may not look pretty to you, but they look absolutely beautiful to us.
If you’ve followed my posts for any length of time you know that we’ve had a very dry summer here in eastern Tennessee. We got some rain in the Glade on Wednesday, which was very welcome. The weather service says that more rain is coming on Friday and Saturday, and we’re looking forward to it. For once we’re hoping the forecast for rain on the weekend is correct.
The picture above was taken near Townsend, Tennessee near the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Betsy and I had taken a drive to the Smokies to visit some areas we hadn’t visited before. I’ll tell you more about our trip next week.

We had an unexpected rain shower on Wed. as well. Every little bit helps. Hopefully we will all get more rain this weekend.

Another beautiful photo. You live in such a lovely part of the country! We could use some rain here, too, but I’m really enjoying all this late-summer weather. Hope you have a great weekend, wet or dry!

This is a great shot George. I hope the weatherman is right and you get your ‘much needed’ rain!! I wish I could share some of mine with you.

Gosh, for some reason I’m looking at this one from a man’s perspective. I’m wondeing who mows all that, it must be a huge job! I guess the parks department or the state.

Oh I wish I could share some of our rain with you.We had an inch overnight and it has been raining most of the day,at times very hard. The farmers who still want to get crops off or work the fields cannot be very happy.

I enjoy seeing the beautiful mountain scenes, George. South Florida is so flat-
We have had the rainiest summer I can remember but on the up-side everything is lush and green. I’ll try to send some wet stuff your way 🙂

I love cloudy, laden skies as well. We’re hoping for some of that tonight!

I sure love that picture…we got rain last night. Not a downpour but it gave everything a good drink.

I hope you got some rain George. We’ve had some but it’s still dry. Leaves are falling off the trees early and when Hubs mowed yesterday it was dusty as could be.
I love the moody sky!

We always stay in Townsend when we go to the Smokies…It’s so much more peaceful over there. I just love your picture…it makes me want to go back again.

Hope you got the rain! We got some last weekend, a remnant from the hurricane that passed by. We did need the rain. Now everything is still green for this time of the year.

I hope you get the rain you need. Those skies look pretty threatening! We won’t have rain for a while yet, but then that’ the usual weather pattern for northern California. It’s so dry around here…Thanks for your sweet comments on my post. Enjoy the week.

The lack of rain, even if it’s not a true drought, is in many ways much more difficult than weeks and months of rain. I’m glad your beautiful fields (and your garden!) are finally getting their thirst quenched.
