On our way home from Williamsburg, Virginia, in 2007 we traveled part of the way along the Blue Ridge Parkway. We chose that route so that we could visit some waterfalls along the way.
Summer is not a great time for waterfalls, especially if they are small and there hasn’t been much rain. But the drive along the Blue Ridge is beautiful any time of the year and the hikes to the falls were through beautiful woods and along pretty streams.
It may have taken us longer to get home by taking this route, but it certainly made the trip more enjoyable.

Very pretty collage George. Waterfalls are so refreshing on a summer’s day. The greenery in your photos is so lush. Thanks for sharing.

I love taking the long way home, by that i mean the scenic route, interstates drive me nuts, boring and same old. i have seen a few interstates sights that were nice. lovely pics as always.

If time is allowed the long way home is usually the best. You never know what you miss if you take the shortest route.

Nice collage.
It is always fun to take the back roads and see the many sights. It is a slower pace too so you can look at everything. I do that even when I go into town. I call it myways not byways. LOL
