Betsy and I came home from our stay in Maggie Valley, North Carolina, on the Cherohala Skyway which goes over the mountains from North Carolina to Tennessee.
The autumn colors were beautiful, but I also had the chance to see those colors reflected in various bodies above.
The picture above was taken at Santeetlah Lake near Robbinsville, North Carolina, before we reached the skyway.
Tellico River, Tellico Plains, Tennessee. October 21, 2010.
As we neared the Tennessee end of the skyway, we turned off to go with Patti and Neal to Bald River Falls near Tellico Plains, Tennessee. After visiting the falls, we drove along Tellico River Road as we headed toward home. The sun was beginning to drop behind the mountains, putting parts of the river in shadow. I found a pullout so I could stop and capture this second picture.

the reflections made the colors doubled and more specail. I like the blue water in the second one, or maybe that is just reflection of the sky

Oh BTW regarding your comment about the bridge: It is a foot bridge over the river to a park and summer cabins. It is at the end of town (town being only a couple of blocks long). A necessary bridge. MB

Stunning colors, beautiful reflections and fantastic captures, George! Even though I’m not really ready for winter, fall offers so much beauty in its glorious colors. I guess each season has its own beauty if we choose to see it! Have a wonderful week!

A body of water sets off the fall colours so beautifully.
Seeing that you hvve ‘hiker’ in your blogname, I was wondering if you have hiked the Appalachian Trail?
I am just reading about it and it sounds wonderful, but scary and very taxing.

You do find the most exquisite places to photograph! LOVE that reflection – there seems to be almost more color in the reflection than in the trees themselves. Beautiful!!
