After the bitterly cold weather we had a few weeks ago, Betsy and I decided we needed a change. So when we learned that our favorite inn at Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina, had a special deal on ocean view rooms for December, we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to visit the beach and have some delicious seafood.
Two of our favorite restaurants were closed for the season, but that just gave us an excuse to try some places that we hadn’t visited before. Is it my imagination or is seafood really so much better-tasting at the seashore?
We arrived at Ocean Isle Beach late Monday afternoon, December 20, to be greeted by this beautiful sight from the balcony of our room. This alone made the trip worth while, but over the next two days we were to find several other reasons to be thankful that we made the trip.

The best seafood I’ve ever eaten has been at seashore restaurants! This is certainly a gorgeous view! So glad you had a marvelous time – and no snow!

Ocean Isle is one of my ALL TIME FAVORITE vacations we took as a family! Our 18yr. old was just 2 at the time and we stayed in a condo on the beach for a week. It was PURE HEAVEN and YES, the seafood is better @ the seashore. Every single night we got fresh seafood and made dinner. I could go on and on! LOL
Thanks for the picture and allowing me to go down memory lane! I am totally jealous but so happy for the two of you 🙂
Blessings!

No, I don’t think it’s your imagination — seafood DOES taste better at the shore! And how dare they be closed!! 🙂 And the sunset…well how can we comment on perfection?

That’s lovely and the lighting you captured it in is to die for! I wonder if it’s all covered in snow now. Not sure if the snowstorm made it that far south. Happy new year and thanks for all your visits over the past year.
