This is my post for Skywatch Friday, a meme for sharing views of the sky from all over the world. To see more, or to join and share your own photos of the sky, click HERE.
I was working with some pictures taken back in August, 2009, when I came across this picture of a watch tower and walls of Castillo de San Marcos in St. Augustine, Florida. Since I captured the fortress under a bright, but cloudy, Florida sky, I thought this was an appropriate picture for Skywatch Friday.

Betsy and I enjoyed our last blogging break so much that we are taking another. Hopefully we’ll be back about May 9.

When I first saw it and not reading the words I thought this was taken in the Philippines. We have Spanish Forts there and it just looked like this. Great shot!! Thanks for sharing!

Glad you shared this scene again. I do not recall seeing it before. However, that does not mean much since I tend to forget. You two just keep on traveling and enjoying what you do.

I had seen some local watch towers here and they’re all made of steel. I think a watch tower made of stones in more magnificent.
the surrounding itself is marvelous and adding the watch tower made it historical.

These battlements look very similar to ones that I saw in Panama. I guess the conquistadores worked from the same blueprints, no matter which country they overran!
THEY LOOK AT THE SKY
The look at the sky, and they say,
“Though storm clouds be scudding my way,
I still like the sight;
By day or by night
All heaven’s a stunning display.”

Nice photo George. I visited St. Augustine when I was 5 and then again when I first met John. It’s a beautiful spot.
