Betsy and I got our first look at the Grand Canyon at the Desert View overlook on the eastern end of the park. That overlook also provided a good view of the Colorado River. I always thought that ‘colorado’ meant ‘color red’, but the river looked more green than red. I’m not complaining, though, the sight was spectacular.

That first view when you stepped out of the car must have been spectacular and very moving. The sky is especially pretty that day also. Thank you for sharing part of your trip – so happy that you had this opportunity to travel.

That is very beautiful. I want to go back and see it again but the next time I want to be up early to get some good pictures of sunrises. I know you and Betsy got some good sunsets and I am waiting patiently to see some of those. 🙂

Yes, I see the river snaking around down there! And I love the combination of that pretty sky and the mountains.

Ok, George, this is definitely one of my fave shots… I love everything about it & get a load of that sky!!! Reminds me of that new photographer, Peter Lik, on The Weather Channel. One of his episodes was taken at The Grand Canyon

One of my most favorite memories is my first glimpse of the Grand Canyon. We arrived at Mather Point about an hour before sunset. Took my breath away!
