I’ve posted a couple of times about the Italian Gardens at the Biltmore Estate near Asheville, North Carolina, where we celebrated Betsy’s birthday.

The Italian Garden is a water garden with three pools filled with water lilies like the ones above. The pools also contain Koi, which Betsy captured along with a reflection of the cloudy sky.

The water lilies were beautiful and showed some of the most vibrant colors I have seen in water lilies.

I liked the color of this lily as well as the reflection in the water. The bee in the blossom was a nice bonus.

I have the purple variety, they refuse to bloom often though.

A pretty lily pond. I have never see purple/blue lilies. Nice.
Up in the mts by Mt. Baker there is a little Lake called Lilypad Lake. I will have to post a pic of it. Thanks for reminding me. LOL MB

Such beautiful pictures, George! The fish are swimming in the sky! And the water lilies, I have only seen white. The mauve one seems to be lit and glowing from within.

Oh my, that pinkiskh purple lily is stunning!
I have a white one in our yard pond but I may need to find a colorful one after seeing these. 🙂

What a gorgeous place. Or should I say palace? The Biltmore came into a book I read recently, Devil in the White City. Olmstead was working on the landscape design while he was helping out with the Chicago World’s Fair of 1893. Small world!

What gorgeous and vibrant colors!! They look like Silk…the lilly pads are just amazing and the lilies….I have never seen such a beautiful color ! You have done it yet again George! What a gift your photography brings to so many! thank you!
