This is my post for Skywatch Friday, a meme for sharing views of the sky from all over the world. To see more, or to join and share your own photos of the sky, click HERE.
While we were in Asheville, North Carolina, for Betsy’s birthday last month, we drove up to Mount Mitchell, the highest peak east of the Mississippi River. We’ve been there before, and always enjoyed the view.
But things were a little different this time. We weren’t above the clouds — we were IN the clouds, as you can see from the picture above, which Betsy took from the observation deck at the summit.
As we stood on the observation deck a breeze picked up and we were able to make out some of the nearby mountain ridges.
The clouds soon moved back in, but not before we caught a glimpse of some blue sky.

Oh, I love your foggy shots, George! There’s something wonderfully mysterious about any landscape when it’s draped with fog that I find fascinating and beautiful! Hope you and Betsy have a lovely weekend!

The foggy shots are very nice, but I think I would only appreciate it knowing that I could see it again with clear, blue skies!

No matter if you are in or out of the clouds, you always capture nature in her glory.

Who cares about the view or the blue sky…being in a cloud is the best! So different and kind of spooky, I can almost feel the moistness and hear the silence. Fog comes in on little cat’s feet. I read that fog is really just low clouds.

The first photo in the lineup looks chilling–meaning that I assume it was rather on the cool side up there!

Lovely photos! I love being in the clouds — as long as that doesn’t mean getting into airplane! I don’t mind my head being in the clouds, as long as my feet are on the ground.

I normally do NOT like fog but it can be beautiful in certain cases and you captured one of those….when it is shown with mountains also showing.

I would have loved that foggy weather!! I am waiting for the air to be cool enough that we will have mist on the water again…
And congratulations to your Dad – yes, you are a child forever, so long as someone remembers changing your diapers and giving you piggyback rides!
Love those waterlilies! I have never seen a blue one before! It is gorgeous!!
