One of the first signs of Autumn in our yard is the red leaves on our dogwood tree after the season’s first cold spell. As you can see, the trees behind the dogwood tree haven’t started to turn yet.
I like the way the sunlight brings out the red of the leaves. I think these leaves look especially beautiful against the blue sky.

The low humidity has made for some beautiful blue skies and I love the red dogwood leaves.

For a long time I would see these leaves, and the berries and didn’t know what they were. I think it was Betsy’s blog that once showed a picture and a light bulb went off! They are stunning.

Sourwood trees and Dogwood trees are the first to give us color. Our color has really increased in the past week. Unfortunately we are now having wind and rain which will cause premature dropping of a lot of the turning leaves.

Gorgeous captures, George! I particularly love the rich colors in the second shot, the red against the blue is fantastic! Hope your week is going well! Enjoy!

I was away from home for two weeks and seeing the difference was astonishing. It’s hard to believe in just a short time the leaves will all be gone.
Lovely how you caught the light on the leaves in the second shot!

I cannot wait to see colors here. You always start earlier than we do.

But then, I think all leaves look best with a background of clear blue skies!
