When Betsy and I visited Smoky Mountains National Park in October, we drove up Newfound Gap Road from Gatlinburg into North Carolina. In the area of Chimney Tops the road follows the West Prong of Little Pigeon River. Since we were stopping to admire the autumn colors, we could also catch glimpses of the river through the trees.
The river is neither very deep nor very wide along this stretch of road, but it is pretty as it tumbles over and around the boulders in the stream. This is especially true when the trees are beginning to turn.
At some places the trees were far enough apart that we could catch a good glimpse of the water as it rushed down the mountain.

How wonderful fall photos! I love them.
Sorry not being visiting on Your blog for long time. We were on travel in Egypt making nice Nile cruise and visiting old temples there. We arrived late yesterday and now we try to start to spend our daily routines.

That’s a wild river! I’m thinking it would be nice to stick your feet in, if you could get to it over the rocks.

Those are beautiful. I’m always gazing when I drive and there is water along the road. It’s a wonder that I stay on the road. 🙂

I love me a rocky river! Just as well – they’re as common as dirt downunder in OZ! So nice to see some autumn (fall?) as we move towards summer here!!

We have fished, eaten picnic meals, and waded in these falls many times. This is not too far from our family mountain home…and right on the route to our old home in TN.
There’s something about waterfalls….it soothes the soul. Almost as much as the undulating waves of the ocean (my FAVORITE place!).
