Watery Wednesday: Soco Falls

Soco Falls, Cherokee, North Carolina. January 31, 2012.

This is my post for Watery Wednesday.  To see more of our beautiful watery world, or to join and post your own pictures to share, click HERE.

Thanks to the rock slide that closed the interstate and our detour through the Smoky Mountains, Betsy and I were able to revisit Soco Falls.  Soco Falls is on the Qualla Indian Reservation between Maggie Valley and Cherokee in North Carolina.  The pull off is on a hairpin turn and is easy to miss, but I’m glad we didn’t miss it.  We had this beautiful waterfall all to ourselves.

Every time I hear Soco, I think about how scary that winding road is! The last time we were in NC, I begged hubby to get me off of it, even if it IS better than it was decades ago. Yep, I’m a wimp.

A lovely cascade – and yes, it would be a very wet Wednesday if one stood under it! Loved your post of all the women in your life telling you where to go – cute!

Did you just mention the word hairpin? Excuse me while I run for the smelling salts and try to find the nearest Victorian fainting couch!!! It is a cool falls, but I would have a heart attack before we ever reached it! I would be such a DRAG to go anywhere with!!

You said the pulloff was in a turn so I’m assuming no hiking required for this one. 🙂
    It looks lovely!
