I first saw the Great Wall of China in 1987. I was in China with a group of other professors from our college on an exchange program. In some ways it’s hard to believe that so many years have passed since then, but the memories are still fresh. These are just some of the pictures I took on that memorable day.

My nephew earned his Masters Degree in China and was able to visit the Great Wall. I can’t imagine seeing it in more than photos.

Great that you enjoyed your Chinese visit.
I never had any desire to visit after the Bamboo Curtain
came down. I note you were there before the “Tiananmen Square”
incident of 1989. Mao etc. and I have nothing in common.
Many friends have since been to Beijing, Shanghai and the Great Wall and thoroughly have enjoyed themselves.
Anyhow the important part was that you enjoyed yourself, and that’s
what visits/holidays are all about.
Interesting blog, indeed.
Cheers

Nice collage.
Aren’t memories wonderful and time seems to fly.
My Mother went to China when she was in her 80s. She loved it and had a grand time. Visiting the Wall was exceptional for her. She went with a group of college students and they were so nice to her, helping her, mothering her etc. She had a grand time. MB

Nice shots George – hard to believe that such a structure could have been built so long ago, especially after seeing it live – we were there 4 years ago
