Betsy and I just got back from a week at the beach.  We stay at a wonderful inn in Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina, but we head to Calabash, North Carolina, each evening for dinner.

Calabash is a fishing village that calls itself the ‘Seafood Capital of the World’.  I’m not about to argue with that description.  Calabash seafood is delicious, and there are several restaurants right along the docks where the fishing boats come in.  You can buy fresh seafood right off the boat, or enjoy a meal at a restaurant as you watch the boats coming in.

The photo above shows some Calabash shrimp and scallops.  It’s definitely worth the trip from Tennessee to enjoy these yummies.

STOP! I’m salivating … that plate of food looks heavenly, although any self-respecting Aussie calls a shrimp a ‘prawn’!

It looks as if you had perfect weather for your beach getaway. I’m not big on seafood, so that part wouldn’t tempt me. But I love the beach and the waves and the beauty of it all that you capture so nicely in your photos.

i love those ship masts and the bright blue sky! I guess I have never tasted extremely fresh seafood, it must be awesome!!! The closest I ever get is picking up a fresh salmon at the grocery store, By then I am sure it is at least four days old.

Yummy indeed!!! Of course the west side of Washington also calls itself the Seafood capital of all over. LOL Bob and I just had garlic Prawns at a Greek restaurant here–Very yummy also. My granddaughter Kylee invited us (and her Mom) out for lunch on Mother’s day—Of course you know who get to pay. We love her anyway. hahaha!!

Oh wow, those plates of seafood are certainly a special treat here in your blog. I love anything seafood, and scallops are rare to find here and expensive, so I am so envious.

I’ll have to admit that the plate of seafood looks delicious even if I am not a big fan of scallops. Looks yummy.
