Skywatch Friday: Before the Storm

A winter moon over Fairfield Glade.

This is my post for Skywatch Friday, a meme for sharing views of the sky from all over the world.  To see more, or to join and share your own photos of the sky, click HERE.

We’re being threatened with a winter storm here in the Glade.  The weather service says we could get several inches of snow with an inch or so of ice thrown in for good measure.  Betsy would dearly love to see the snow, but she is not at all interested in the ice.  To tell the truth, I don’t look forward to ice either.

But all of this is in the future as I write this.  Tonight (Thursday) the skies are clear and the moon is full.  I hope the memory of this beautiful night will help me get through the next couple of days.

I’m grateful that we can look up see beauty even in a dark sky.

Wowee! You are having just the worst winter weather and we are having the mildest January on record. I just wonder what Feb. will bring. Take care. MB

Beautiful shot. We are to get lots of snow tonight, as well. How much zoom did you have to use?

  9. Mary Says:

Great moon shot! Tell Betsy that she can have our snow, too, so she will have enough to make her happy 🙂 I hope we don’t get much, but we haven’t had a real accumulation yet for this winter, so its about time we got a few inches. Stay warm!

    Wonderful shot George!
I was taking daytime moon shots yesterday. At the moment it is a hazy white spot behind cloud cover. It looks like I’ll be just north of that same storm and it will miss me. 😦

What a terrific capture, George! We’ve been blessed here in Seattle not to have snow — in fact it’s been the warmest January on record. Last year we had more snow than the city had seen in over 30 years?? who knows what’s next. Well, regardless of the weather there, you did get a great photo of a beautiful golden moon! Hope you have a great weekend!

What an amazing shot of the moon. So full in that sky. I noticed it while coming home but it wasn’t nearly as close. Stay warm and safe in the winter weather. I enjoyed my visit here.

  15. Rajesh Says:

Fantastic capture of the moon, pretty cool. Even in bad weather the shot is pretty cool.

Awesome shot of the moon, George. I’m so happy that Betsy loves the snow. I am also happy it is there and not here.

The moon was simply beautiful last night, its called the Wolf Moon. What a lovely photo! I tried but didn’t get anything as nice as your photo. Hope all is well with you during the storm!

    Lovely moon shot 😉
Hope you didn’t get hit with severe weather. We’re supposed to get more rain next week here after some nice sunny skies over the weekend.
    Hugs and blessings,
