Down Memory Lane: Mount Nebo Waterfalls

I’ve mentioned several times how much Betsy and I like going to Mount Nebo in Arkansas.  We always stay in a beautiful rustic cabin on the edge of the mountain where we can enjoy the fantastic views.

But as you might expect, if we keep going back there have to be some waterfalls as well.  There is a Waterfall Trail that leads down the mountain not too far from the cabin.  I usually hike that trail at least once during our stay and, if we spend the day on the mountain, will often hike it along with one of the other trails.

The Waterfall Trail leads past one pretty falls, Upper Nebo Falls,  on its way to the main drop, Mount Nebo Falls.  Since both are near the top of the mountain the water flow can be low during much of the year, but they are pretty in the early Spring.  The collage above was made from pictures I took of the waterfalls during our visit in March, 2009.

This is such a pretty place. Every time you mention Mount Nebo,I smile. You see we have a Mount Nebo not very far from our town.Only problem is,this is more like an ugly hill that in the past was used for motorcycle hill climbs.
    Blessings,Ruth

Great collage, George! I have been trying to comment on your other blog, but am unable, it just says page not found. I have also not been able to comment on one other person’s blog today, as well. So I guess blogger is acting up. But about that pretty golf course, have any balls ever come on your propertyor hit your house?

I don’t know if I’ve ever told you George but we have a Mt. Nebo here. It’s the site of a yearly weekend gospel sing. Sadly, no waterfalls.

Waterfalls are a great place to spend some peaceful moments of life. I love the sound of water falling from great heights, it fills me with wonder. Great collage.

With the hot weather returning, it would be so tempting to try to stand IN the waterfalls! You two sure have shown us some really beautiful places with your waterfall pictures.

I love going to Mt. Nebo. Thanks for the photos.

Next time you are in Arkansas, head up to the Pedestal Rock area. On County Rd 1205 you’ll run into multiple falls on Falling Water Creek. Falling Water Falls is right nest to the road and is a popular swimming hole in the summer. Six Finger Falls and Fuzzy Butt Falls are just a mile or two on up the road. Keep driving to Richland Creek Rec Area and you can see 2 or 3 more falls. Beautiful area of the state. It’s a little over 2 hour drive up from Russellville on scenic Hwys 7 and 16.
