Scenic Sunday #112: Gros Piton

Gros Piton, Saint Lucia. September 13, 2001.

This is my post for the Scenic Sunday meme, which shares beautiful scenes from around the world.  To see more Scenic Sunday posts, or to join and show your own pictures, click HERE.

Gros Piton, and its smaller twin, Petit Piton, are iconic symbols of the Caribbean island of Saint Lucia.  They guard the entrance to the bay leading to the town of Soufrière on the west coast.  This picture was taken from a catamaran as it approached the bay after a cruise along the coast.

That’s quite the steep, sharp mountain!! Very lovely photo George. Loved yesterday’s too – interesting threatening skies yet no follow through with the rain.

How very pretty! The clouds really accentuate the mountain top. It must have been awesome in person. Thanks for sharing George.

I came in to comment, but just had to go back to enlarge the picture, and it was worth it! Gosh, how imposing and actually pointy!! Lots of greenery on it. It’s unusual looking, and this is coming from a mountain girl!
