In October, 2006, Betsy and I drove my parents to Winslow, Indiana, which was Mom’s hometown and the place where Mom and Dad met. This picture was taken in front of the church in which Mom grew up. If you look closely at the base of the sign you will see that it is ‘In Memory of Mr. & Mrs. James Cassidy’ — Mom’s parents and my grandparents.
There’s only one small problem — the family spelled their last name ‘CassidAy’!

That’s a big oops! Good reason to double check the spelling and proofread your work, before installing. Originally, it was only on the concrete slab topper to the base. Now it’s part of a completed project.

Isn’t that often the way, where a name gets spelt incorrectly on something important. I bet she has seen some changes over the years,

What a great shot of your Mom and she does look happy! That is a “Ooops” indeed it and it will indeed mess with the mind of some future genealogy researcher! Great look at your world, George, as always!! Enjoy your day!

Did your grandparents give the money for the church sign? That is very cool that their name is on it. I know your mom was happy to be back there, this is a really sweet picture.

There is more than one oops. The actual reference is Psalm 46: 10. The entire psalm has only 11 parts.

Great photo of your mom! If you go to Shooting Parrots’s blog, you will see that he mentions the same problem with spelling. He shows a photo in which Shakespeare is spelled like Shakespere ! It’s quite interesting. Thanks for your kind words on my blog!

To be able to visit the church where she grew up must have pleased her very much as her beautiful smile attests to.
I think those two spellings would also be pronounced differently if I’m not mistaken. Maybe somebody didn’t listen either. 🙂
I’ve learned to enunciate the ‘t’ in my last name otherwise it’s something different to people.
