Did you see last week’s full moon?  It turns out that it was really a Micro Moon.  On November 28, 2012 the smallest Full Moon of 2012 reached its full phase only about 4 hours before its apogee, the most distant point from Earth in the Moon’s elliptical orbit.

We’ll have to wait until January 16, 2014, to see the next Micro Moon.  On that date the moon will reach its full phase within about three hours of apogee.

That all sounds too scientific for me but interesting for you to capture it.

Terrific capture of the micro moon — it even looks small in Seattle where it often seems that the moon here is much larger than it is in other places! I know it’s our imagination, but we do have BIG moons! Hope your week is going well, George!!

I saw it George and also photographed it. Didn’t know it was a Micro Moon so I appreciate the info. I was finding it hard to get good shots. Maybe it was because it was smaller – yeah, I’ll go with that. 🙂
You did a great job George!
