Moon Over the Glade

I’ve often tried (usually without much success) to get a good photograph of the moon.  While I feel very inadequate at night-time photography, I do better when the moon makes an appearance during the day.  I got this picture of the moon over our house a few years ago.  I think the cloud which looks as if it is about to swallow the moon adds an interesting element to the photo.

On our way back home from Asheville, North Carolina, in June, Betsy and I drove through the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.  Along the way we stopped at the Charles A. Webb Overlook on Newfound Gap Road where I got this picture.  The clouds were as beautiful as the mountains.  June 24, 2025.

An Evening Sky

I sometimes feel as if I don’t spend enough time looking up == specifically looking up at the sky.  There is so much variety and grandeur in the sky above us:  fascinating clouds and vibrant colors.  It’s a shame that all of this is missed because I spend so much time looking at things on the ground.

The picture above was taken on the golf course behind our house on a beautiful September evening.
